Hacienda San Lucas in Copan Ruinas is being so far one of the best places for birding in Copan, boasting a great number of winged creatures that makes out this place something really magic for birdwatchers!!! just walking around the gardens will give amazing looks of species such as: White Throated Magpie Jays, Elegant Euphonia, Crowned Woodnymph, Orioles, Woodcreepers and more.,
Their trails follow into the dry tropical forest., mornings are just fantastic while Trogons, Sparrows, Wrens and Chachalacas raise up their songs along the way, the ancient archeological site “Los Sapos” gives you a chance to mix the Mayans Past with birding in this little paradise.
I could easely name this place “The Capital of Motmots” in just one morning I have counted more than 30 individuals which are always jumping in their feeders or possing on boths sides of the trails.
You need be right on this place to enjoy all their wildlife in its surroundings., the evening is out of imagination when you can see the sun light desappear on the horizon, this is while the Pygmy Owls start calling from the woods.
